Towering upwards
Passers-by will have noticed that we have not one but two tower cranes now on site as development progresses at Tower Works. Since Sir Robert McAlpine’s team started on site at the beginning of the year we have now completed the site set up and undertaken much of the ‘behind the scenes’ work such as ground remediation, bulk excavation, drainage and piling.
They are making great progress and are in fact ahead of schedule which is always good news! They are now delivering the foundations, ground beams and pile caps and have installed utility services across site. Once complete we will move onto the next exciting, and more visible, stage which will see the concrete frame erected in August/September.
The hoardings are also now complete along the site perimeter and canal side.
Helping us to make such swift progress is an incredible skilled team who have worked so hard in the recent hot weather. As part of its commitment to Tower Works and the city of Leeds Sir Robert McAlpine has created 31 new jobs for local people and inducted a total of 201 people on site.
Our three landmark towers, Giotto, Verona and Little Chimney will of course be protected during the build programme and continue to form a much-loved part of the Leeds skyline as well as being a unique focal point for the scheme.
By 2023 all works will be complete, delivering 245 new 1, 2 and 3 bedroom homes in this highly desirable area of Leeds.
