Supporting Light Night Leeds 2019
Richardson and Ask are delighted to be supporting Light Night Leeds for the next three years. The 2019 event takes place on 10th and 11th October and will celebrate the diverse and thriving creativity of the city.
Light Night Leeds is an annual free multi-arts and light festival that takes over Leeds City Centre for two nights each October. The event has grown year on year and in 2018 was enjoyed by around 80,000 local, national and international visitors.
It is the UK’s largest annual arts and light festival and will see some of Leeds’ most recognisable indoor and outdoor spaces transformed by spectacular artworks and captivating performances by local, national and international artists.
There will be over 60 free arts events across 11 zones in the City Centre, from large-scale light projections and interactive installations, to music, dance and street performances.
This year Light Night celebrates the theme of 'Mind, Body and Spirit'. Tower Works will feature a stunning illumination which can be found in the Temple Zone at location 55. The installation is GRID by artists Blauwe Uur (The Netherlands) and you can see more about it here.
Referencing the huge regeneration project in Temple Zone and the construction taking place around Tower Works, GRID is a large-scale sculpture of sound, colour, light, rhythm, steel and air. A synthesised voice guides you into the installation to encounter the sounds of the unique robot orchestra. The voice becomes a beat, and together with the instruments, lights and video projections, the result is the experience of being immersed in an illuminated moving machine.
The event starts at 6pm on Thursday 10th with some of the installations, including GRID, opening at 7pm when it will be darker.
